Full Moon Magic! Harness the Power of the Full Moon!

The Night of the Full Moon is known for its beauty, its healing properties, its fantastic energy, and its magic!

Porter Power

The Energy of the Full Moon is a powerful energy. There are many rituals and beliefs in various cultures and religions on the use of moon energy. At Blue Avalon we believe the full moon is a time for healing, a time for recharging your spirit and a time for renewing your enhancers with the vibrant energy of the full moon!

Porter Power

The following is our list of favourite Full Moon Rituals you can do tonight!

1. Fill a pitcher or jug with water and leave it out overnight in the light of the full moon. The next day-use this water to cleanse your crystals and reinvigorate them with the energy of the full moon! Use this re-energized water to not only cleanse your crystals, but to wash your face to leave you feeling renewed from this pure energy blast or wash counters, floors-anything you feel could benefit from the magical moon!

2. You recently cleansed or smudged your crystals? Take it one step further and place your crystals on the windowsill for the evening, or put them in a crystal bowl and leave them outside under the light so that they can capture the moon's energy directly!

3. Using the Full Moon for Prosperity! It is said that during a full moon you should leave your wallet and checkbook open for it to receive the moons full energy. It may not bring you millions, but it may help to ensure that you have enough for the month to pay the bills!

4. Do you enjoy traditional symbolic Feng Shui? Then, I'm sure you've heard about the Feng Shui money frog or toad. Legend has it that this mythical creature appeared every full moon by or near homes that would receive abundance-whether it be wealth or good news! If you have him-place him in the light of the moon, and in the morning-return him to your wealth area or inside by your front door looking in!

5. Looking for love? In a red ceramic or glass bowl-arrange stones or glass beads in the bowl (purple, red , and pink work well). Next, stand up 3 red or pin candles in the bowl. Light the candles on the night of the full moon and focus on the light burning bright against the moon. Ensure your intention is that this light will bring you love-new lover-or deeper love!

6. Your own power image! You've read many times that an image of a moon brings renewed energy, focus and concentration. What better image than one you take with your own camera-a full moon you've seen with your own eyes! Print it and place it on your desk or childs desk for increased focus!

7. The high potency of the full moon encourages fertility, passion and abundance - Write your wishes for them with a silver pen and then burn them in a candle flame under this full moon!

8. Moon meditation is extremely powerful as the full moon is a time to draw down the energy of the moon and connect to it. Call us for a guided moon meditation!

Finally, don't forget the most important point. Stand in the moonlight and cast your eyes on the beautiful site before you and truly enjoy the moment for all its beauty.

Air Tools Beginner's Guide

Buying air power tools for the first time can be a daunting task-as can finding the right tool anytime. In an effort to make your eventual purchase more enjoyable and rewarding, I'm presenting you with this air power tools buying guide. I'd recommend printing it out or bookmarking this article as a guide.

Porter Power

The first thing you need to know is that there's an air power tool for virtually any job out there-and I mean any job. And the second crucial point to remember is that all air power tools require a separate air compressor. Many first-time tool buyers don't realize this or forget. Keep that in the back of your mind always.

Porter Power

Let's talk about air compressors for a moment. They are not all the same. When you buy an air power tool, it will have a PSI (pressure per square inch) rating. You need a air compressor with the same PSI capability. It should go without saying that your air hoses and connections must match perfectly. You want a tight fit.

Two main types of air compressors are: compact and piston-type.

Compact compressors don't use a tank to store compressed air. As such, the compact compressor runs while giving your tool the air it requires. The benefit of compact compressors are the ability to take them anywhere with ease, because they are small and light. However, this is a tradeoff. While being small and light, they lack power. If you're going to doing any power painting, for instance, a compact compressor will most likely be inadequate.

Piston-type compressors, on the other hand, are more powerful. They have a tank that stores the compressed air. The compressor doesn't need to run constantly like the compact compressors do. Instead, it only runs when the air needs to be adjusted back to a certain pressure. The piston-type compressors have two stage models-single and double. If you're doing a heady-duty job, it's best to get a double-stage compressor.

Perhaps one of the most common air power tool bought is a nail gun, so let's go over some quick basics about them.

Nail guns come in two main varieties: coil and stick. A coil-based nail gun holds the nails in a drum-like container. Typically, these guns will hold a few hundred nails. The stick-based nail guns are for your smaller, general jobs. They usually hold a couple dozen or so nails. Unless you're doing some construction or a very large project, a stick-based gun will do the job.

When buying an air-powered nail gun, think about what you intend to use it for. Many nail guns are built with a specific task in mind. Some examples of task-based nail guns are: framing nail guns, finishing nail guns, roofing nail guns, etc.

Finishing nail guns are more for your light work, while framing nail guns are for heavy-duty work.

Just like anything great in life, air power tools come in a variety of sizes and loaded features. As to brands, that's really a personal question. Some people become loyal to specific brands. If you're not sure what to look for, try Bostitch, Craftsman, DeWalt, Milwaukee, and Porter-Cable first.

Are Bonds A Good Investment If The Economy Re-Enters Recession?

Typically, bonds are considered safer than stocks during an economic downturn. 2008 was an anomaly, as concerns weren't about an economic downturn as much as they were about the entire system. Because of this, many investors opted to forego credit risk altogether and invest in U.S. Treasures. As a result, aside from Treasuries, most bond sectors saw sharp drops in value that were extremely unusual.

Porter Power

Equally as unusual are the rallies most bond sectors have staged through September of 2009 - they have been extremely sharp, in some cases more than recovering last year's losses. If the economy does hit a rough patch again, two factors will have a large impact on how bonds behave. The first factor is the riskiness of the business issuing the bonds, and second is inflation.

Porter Power

As to the former, we believe an investor should focus on higher credit quality businesses, and invest a smaller portion of a portfolio in high yield bonds. Within that high yield portion, we have focused our investments in the higher grades of high yield. Thus, while a downturn could adversely impact bond fund values, the impact should be a good deal less than that in the stock market. Regarding the risk of inflation, in a downturn in which wealth is decreasing and credit is constrained, it's hard to see inflation gaining a foothold in the near term. Thus, it's likely that low interest rates will be with us for some time, and bond values will not be impacted by rising rates over this period.

The bottom line is that bonds are likely to follow their historical tendency and be safer than stocks. One other key to weathering any potential downturn is ensuring that if you are taking money from your portfolio, you have set aside enough in cash and truly safe fixed income - Treasuries or CDs are what we use - to cover several years' worth of cash needs.

Four of the Best Gas Powered Generators Available in the Market Today

A generator is a very useful tool for those in specific situations, for example, those who might need a power source on a regular basis while being nowhere near an outlet, like out in the woods or a public square. For those who run stalls at a market or a fair, a generator could be vital for lighting the place and making sure any devices or apparatus, such as for cooking or entertainment, are working. People who camp regularly might find one useful also for appliances they might need, and in emergency situations involving a car or a power outage in your home, a generator will ensure that your daily activities are not disrupted, until the problem is solved.

Solar Power - Fun Facts

Fun facts about solar power are popular at any age. People want serious information about solar power, but sometimes, even the serious can be expressed in fun facts.

Porter Power

Fun facts on solar power include things such as the fact that, in a single hour, enough sunlight reaches the earth's surface to meet the entire world's energy needs for a full year. Imagine! That information comes from the American Solar Energy Society.

Porter Power

Here are some more fun facts on solar power.

12 Fun Facts on Solar Power

* As early as 1921, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded for experiments with solar power and photovoltaics. It was awarded to Albert Einstein.

* When silicon is taken from just one ton of sand, and used in photovoltaic solar power panels, that silicon can produce as much electricity as 500,000 tons of burning coal.

* In the U.S., there are more than 10,000 homes that get their energy entirely from solar power.

* Nearly 200 years ago, a British astronomer by the name of John Herschel cooked food with solar power during an journey to Africa.

* California opened its first large solar power plant in 1982.

* Solar power can cut water bills by more than 50 percent each year in a home where a solar model replaces the electric water heater.

* The price of photovoltaic (PV) solar power panels has dropped 200 percent over the last 30 years, according to the Department of Energy. Owners now pay between 10 and 40 cents per kilowatt-hour.

* A study by the U.S. Department of Energy (USDOE) showed that solar power conditions were close to perfect (99 percent) in San Francisco on June 14th, 2000. On that day, 100,000 customers in that area lost power. Solar power could have provided all they needed.

* Another USDOE study showed that the roofs of California's city and county buildings, if covered with solar PV panels, could generate 200 megawatts of clean electricity! Cover California's school roofs with solar power panels, and you add 1,500 megawatts more to the state's peak power supply.

* In California, covering every available commercial and industrial roof with solar power panels could generate all of the electricity needed in that state during the daytime.

* Germany is making the best use of solar power, even though its climate includes many cloudy days.

* It takes only about 8 minutes for solar energy to travel from the sun to the earth.

5 Power Tools Needed for Easy Woodworking Projects

Almost all people think when they start out as a woodworker they need to run out and buy a ton of new tools and spend thousands of dollars. That's not true at all! Here are 5 power tools I recommend that every woodworker should have:
Circular saw- this tool is probably the most versatile power tool you will have. The circular saw is a bit unnerving for some beginners in the woodworking world with lots of practice, it will quickly become your tool of choice for most of you cutting needs and is a necessity to your tool collection.
Power Drill- Some people argue about whether a corded drill or battery power drill is better. I like to use a battery-powered drill for most of my drilling needs With the battery power there are no chords you need to run and nothing to trip over. You can get the drill pretty much anywhere you need it. Drills can vary in speed and sizes. I would recommend getting a drill with a 1/2 chuck to start with so you know its big enough to handle pretty much any job.
Jigsaw- Another very important hand-held power tool is the jigsaw. The jigsaw allows a woodworker to cut curved and different patterns in the project. I would recommend getting a jigsaw that feels comfortable to you.
Orbital sander- The last of the hand-held tools that every woodworker needs to have is a sander. You need to sand your projects smooth when finished and it would take for ever with the old style block and sheet of sandpaper.
Router- The last tool I'm going to recommend for any beginner is a router. The router allows you to finish the edges of you projects to your liking. They come in two different bases, a stationary base and a plunger base. I recommend the stationary base for any beginner. It will be able to take care of almost all your woodworking needs.

Porter Power

Now that you have bought these 5 woodworking tools you will be ready to tackle any project that comes your way. If you need help buying these tools just ask anyone in the tool department at your local home improvement store. As always take extreme caution when using the power tools and always make sure to have eye protection and hearing protection on. Now go out and build your dream woodworking project and have fun doing it.

The Power Look for Men in 2008

Much has been written and said about women having a power look with expensive high heel shoes regardless of what else is worn. What about men? Is there a 2007 power look for men? Is did the male power look die with the crash of 1987 or with the dotcom bust?

Porter Power

There is a power look for men but it is much more subtle than a pair of expensive high heel shoes flaunted by the women who have shattered the glass ceiling.

Porter Power

Hair

The very expensive haircut is crucial. For those who do not have enough hair to pull-off the expensive haircut - it all must go. No more comb-overs or even implants. The really powerful and the extremely rich just cut their own hair or go to the same corner barbershop they have gone to since they were kids.

Shirt

White shirt of a fine 100% cotton shirt. Straight collar. French cuffs with tiny - ideally antique - cuff links (1920s not 1950s). Preferably tailored in England. Always laundered and starched. No "no irons" or "stain proof" shirts please. At least one fresh one daily - sometimes more often so it looks crisp.

Tie

Silk. The only acceptable material. Hermes and the other designers with fine silk, bright colors and very small and complex patterns or figures. Also acceptable is foulard in silk with small diamond or circle patterns in navy or maroon. Purple, yellow (its back) and pink are favored too. Sky blue has become a cliché for politicians and their underlings.
Stay away from green and brown. Black is for funerals. Regardless of what the fashion books say - the knot is a function of personal style - and where you went to boarding school (or which military branch you served in).

Belt

Does not matter. You will not be taking off your suit coat. And you will only unbutton it when you sit down. Period.

Shoes

If the higher the heel is the key to the power look for women, then the thinner the sole is the key to the power look for men. Italian and English shoes are best. The rule about laces is out unless you are a diplomat or an investment banker. Otherwise, tie shoes or slip-ons are fine. They must be expensive, black or brown (a whole other article about this trend) and very traditional in style. Any shoe that looks trendy, cheap or like a walking or athletic shoe is a no-no. And any shoe must be highly polished - regardless of whether they are new or 30 years old (yes I have some that old in case you are wondering - I have them cobbled).

Suit

The power suit is still it. No khaki and polo shirt - unless you are on the links. No sport coat and dress trousers - unless you are at a cocktail party or the yacht club. A suit. Preferably English. Preferably bespoke (if you do not know what that is then do a search on the term please). It should be navy solid or striped or very dark grey. It should be of very expensive and fine wool. And it should fit impeccably (that does not mean off-the-rack and adjust the cuffs and hem the trousers by the way). If you cannot afford this suit - then go to a very expensive men's store and examine the most expensive traditional suits they sell. Try one on. Look at all the details. Short of a bespoke suit - this is what you are looking to duplicate regardless of where you choose to shop.

While the topics of belts, braces (you know - suspenders), socks, pocket squares, watches, spectacles, rings, pens and other accessories could go on for pages - the point is that unless you get the basics right (and above are the basics) then all the other things really don't matter because you will not have the power look.

Female executives can have their expensive high heel shoes. You have your expensive haircut/shirt/tie/suit/shoes. Now it is time to get down to business. If you think the computer programmer who is worth more than most small countries has it made because he can wear an old rock band t-shirt, baggy shorts and ratty sneakers - then you do not need to worry about the men's power look. You need to evaluate your professional goals.
